There are lots of technical aspects to Search Engine Optimisation (or SEO) – some important and some not-so-much.
A recent article on Search Engine Roundtable listed some things that Google are looking at at the moment, and the most important thing on the list is not technical at all. Not easy, but not technical!

Seo or search engine optimisation can be a real bag of mystery. What makes it all happen? What does Google want? What do you need to do to improve things?
There’s a long, long list of things, but what’s the most important thing in 2020 you need to worry about? Let’s have a look at that today.
G’day, I’m Jason Foss. As I mentioned at the start, there is one part of search engine optimisation that Google has said is the most important thing you need to worry about.
And it’s not as mysterious as you might think. So let’s have a look at that. It’s referring to an article that I saw on search engine roundtable here a couple of days ago. And it’s a reasonably in-depth article with lots of references and diagrams and so on, but in terms of a bulleted list of things that are continuing to be important.
Let’s have a look at this one down here, I’d highlight it if it’ll let me, and there we go. So to quote exactly from the article, google said great content is still more important, and pages that have great content can still rank well with poor page experience.
So improving your page experience and taking care of all of the technical stuff on here is important, but it’s not the most important thing. And so if you’re trying to perform any search engine optimisation work, if you’re trying to boost your results in google and you’re not actually looking at the content, the stuff that everybody else can see and read and watch – that’s elephant in the room, that’s the biggest thing you need to take care of.
The technical stuff is important and it’s there, and we know about those sort of things. But if you’re writing dull content or it’s mostly copied and pasted from other sources or you’re not offering anything really genuinely useful, rankings could be a struggle for you and that’s straight from the words of Google. So keep that in mind if you’re trying to improve your Google results.
Content is super important. More important than any of the other technical stuff that you have to worry about. I’m Jason Foss. Thanks for watching
