WordPress Explained: Where Everything Is (So You Don’t Get Lost)

If you’ve ever logged into WordPress and thought “well… this looks terrifying”, this one’s for you.

In this edition of WordPress Wednesday, I’m not showing you how to do anything fancy. There are no tricks, hacks, or shiny widgets. Instead, I’m walking you through where everything lives inside WordPress — so the next time you log in, it feels familiar instead of mildly stressful.

This video is essentially an orientation tour. I cover how to log in, what the dashboard is (and why you can mostly ignore it), where pages, posts, media, and menus live, and how to move around WordPress without adding unnecessary friction.

Even if you’ve used WordPress before, I can almost guarantee there’ll be a few shortcuts in here that save you time — whether it’s jumping straight to editing a page from the front end, understanding how blocks are structured, or figuring out which settings change depending on what you’ve clicked.

I also touch on:

  • How the block editor actually works (and how to tell what you’re editing)
  • Using the document outline to stay sane on complex pages
  • Renaming blocks to make life easier later
  • Previewing desktop, tablet, and mobile views properly
  • Anchor links, media library basics, menus, and updates

It’s not flashy — but it will save you hours over the life of your website.
